Selecting a clone, but not the original?

I have a plane that flies across the screen, drops a parachute, which then shrinks as it ‘falls’.

Only, its shrinking the original offscreen, causing it to flip into negative and grow uncontrollably.

Edit: I think is sorta fixed, i suspect the original offscreen is still being affected, just not enough to make it a killer issue. If i switch the game to spawned enemies rather than the current, over time the chute may shrink to be unseeable or even flip again to grow.
